The Make A Way Mindset—And How You Can Believe In Yourself Too

There’s a silent pain many people carry—the kind you don’t talk about at dinner tables or post about online. It’s the ache of knowing you were made for something more, but feeling so weighed down by fear, guilt, or exhaustion that you don’t even know where to begin.

I’ve met that pain face-to-face. I was weighed down by the false narratives other people told me—about me. The story created by someone else caused me to to lose my way and question how to believe in myself. As a therapist, author, and lifelong dreamer, I’ve sat across from people—young and old—who were brilliant, creative, powerful… but disconnected from their own possibility. I’ve also lived through moments like that myself.

Moments where I didn’t feel seen.
Moments where I wondered if it was too late for me.
Moments where I was so busy helping others that I forgot how to help myself.

That’s why I developed the Make A Way Mindset.

Because I’ve learned that hope isn’t always something that just happens. Sometimes, we have to build it. Sometimes, we have to make a way. Our own way. Because no one is going to make it for us.

The Backstory: How I Made a Way When the Odds Were Against Me

The Make A Way Mindset was born from my own lived experience—not a trend, not a theory, but the real-life path I carved out when the world told me I shouldn’t succeed.

I was a single mother who hadn’t finished college. In 1995, only about 8% of single mothers who enrolled in college earned a degree within six years. That means more than 9 out of 10 single moms never made it to graduation.

But I did.

And not just once.

I raised my daughter, worked full-time, and earned my bachelor’s degree—even though it took me six years to finish. Then I went on to earn a two-year master’s degree over three years, and a three-year law degree in five. Later, I bought my own home, founded multiple companies, and published more than twenty books.

When people asked me how I did it, my answer was always the same:

“I made a way.”

I didn’t wait for the perfect timing or the perfect plan. I knew I didn’t have to do it all at once. I just had to keep going. One step. Then another. I didn’t always know how I would finish—but I trusted that if I kept moving, the path would become clear. And it did.

That’s what the Make A Way Mindset is all about.

And even today, nearly three decades later, the numbers still show how needed this mindset is. In 2025, just 24% of single mothers have a college degree. That means 3 out of 4 still face barriers that can seem insurmountable.

This mindset is for them.
It’s for you.
It’s for anyone who knows deep down that giving up is not the answer.

A Movement for Those Who Are Tired of Settling

Make A Way Mindset was created for those who have spent years waiting—for the right time, the right confidence, the right energy—to finally say:

“Enough waiting. I am the right time.”

This isn’t just a coaching program or a motivational message. It’s a mindset reset. A belief system rooted in hope, healing, and unstoppable determination.

We are not here to hustle ourselves into burnout.
We are here to heal, rise, and move forward—with clarity and purpose.

Through my courses, coaching, and original tools—like The Hoping Skill™, The Hope Meter™, and The Hope Reset—I help women reconnect with who they are, what they deserve, and where they still want to go.

Why You Desperately Need This Right Now

Because so many people are:

  • Functioning, but not thriving
  • Dreaming, but too tired to chase it
  • Surviving, but feeling emotionally numb
  • Feeling defeated—but you are not!

Because too many of us have been told:

“People like you don’t get to do things like that.”

I’m living proof that they were wrong.

And if you feel the spark of a dream inside you—even one buried by fear, shame, or self-doubt—I want you to know this:

You don’t need a perfect plan.
You just need a spark.
We can build the fire together.

Believe in Yourself. You’re in the Right Place. This Is the Right Time.

If you’ve been looking for a sign—this is it.
If you’ve been waiting for someone to remind you that your dream still matters—this is that reminder.
If you’ve been craving a mindset shift rooted in faith, resilience, and action—this is your path forward.

Make A Way Mindset is more than a brand. It’s a way of living.
A way of believing in yourself.
A way of choosing hope—even when it feels impossible.
A way of saying: “I don’t have to wait. I’m allowed to begin again.”

You are worthy of the life you’ve imagined.
And you don’t have to do it alone.
